Stockdog September, 2020
Filling up Fast!
STOCKDOG SEPTEMBER is fast approaching! Looking for a small group of stockdog owners (Northern Utah/Eastern Idaho) dedicated to five consecutive weeks of classes building a stronger working connection bewteen both Handler and Stockdog. We will be covering basic building blocks of disipline for each person and their dog to form a stellar working relationship! This is a group setting to learn from each other's triumphs and challenges! Lesson plan outline: Make a mental connection between both Handler and Dog; expose working partners to different work environments; introduce handler/dog to stock work (training goats) to forge basics. This class is best suited for beginner to novice stock handlers - even ranch hands that experience frustration with working livestock with their 4-legged partners! All breeds/ages of working dogs welcome. For best success dogs should be a minimum of 6 months depending on the work ethics and maturity of the younger pups. No age limit on the humans! Aug. 28, Sept. 4, 14, 21,& 28 - all on Fridays. Located 30 minutes north of Malad in beautiful McCammon, Idaho. Bring your sack-dinner! Sessions will begin promptly at 4:45 each Friday. Don't hesitate to reach out for more information. Call or text more details. Thank you!
This Week's Lesson: Mental Connection - How easy it really is!
"Hex" and Corbin partnered up not too long ago. Hex had his own agenda when he arrived; as an independent thinker and Corbin really wasn't in the picture as far as Hex was concerned. This is the second work in the small pen and the progress is tremendous! It can be amazing what positive reinforcement can do! These two are on the road to being a great team!
